My Home Office 2021 – Setup, Tools and Equipment

I’ve been working from home for the last one and a half year. Even though home office came by surprise, I think we were all ready for it.

Here is a sneak peek at my home office and the tools that I use everyday as a video editor and motion designer.

My Setup

Like most of us, I don’t have a dedicated room for my home office. So I turned a corner of our living room into a home office setup, trying not to overwhelm things.

My desk setup at night. Large softbox to bring light, which is good for the eyes, but also makes my setup look like a spaceship.

Objects

MacBook Pro 16″ – for everything.

Custom Built PC – either playing games on it, or doing some heavy-editing stuff. Planned to be replaced with another, more powerful Mac.

Aputure 120D Mark II + Neewer 65 cm Octagonal Softbox

Rode Videomic NTG for meetings and video recordings

Deltahub’s Mouse Pad – comfortable and sleek desk matte

ATX M50X headphones. These are great for video editing, music, as well as gaming. Have them since 6 years already 😯

JBL Flip 3 for external sound (need to upgrade πŸ€”)

Logitech G305 Wireless Mouse (ergonomics, speed)

Apple Keyboard Black (ergonomics, speed)

Fujifilm XT4 + 16mm f/2.8 + 24-70mm f/4 for photo/video at home

Tools

Collaboration

What I miss the most is talking to my colleagues and having sponatenous video reviews.Β

Although we use tools like Microsoft Teams to communicate, I found out that we don’t share as much as we used to before. Recently we have created 2 group chats to keep the conversation going –
πŸ’‘ Everyday Inspiration and 🎬 Show & Tell.

Other Tools

πŸ’¬Slack – mostly community groups (by the way if you don’t know Jacuzzi Slack Club – it’s a great place for networking with people mostly from UK)

πŸ“Notes – my go-to notebook., ideas and memos go here.

☁️Adobe CC – my whole career depends on this, I guess.

✏️Figma – so much better than Illustrator. Honestly.

πŸ₯Keynote – if an idea has potential to turn into a presentation, it should be documented via Keynote. It is my go-to moodboard collection tool.

πŸ“¨Outlook and Gmail for e-mail.

Coffee Tools

There are tools… and there are β˜•οΈcoffee tools. In terms of preparing coffee, home office has the big advantage of storing as much coffee makers as you want.

I mostly use the Sage Barista Express for making a variety of espresso drinks (cappuccino, latte, espresso macchiato).

French Press and Chemex come to save the day when it comes to late afternoon coffee.

What's on your desk?

I’d love to see what’s on your desk 😎 Let’s do a little setup wars – send me your photo on drago@thevideo.camp, or simply tag me on Instagram or LinkedIn.
